Red Dead Redemption: The Movie?

Okay so here's something I read and just needed to post about. According to Show Biz Spy They're going to make a Red Dead Redemption movie starring Brad Pitt as Mr. Marston himself. This is just a rumor but man. I reeeally hope they don't make this movie. It was a good game and well, we all know how movie's based off of video games turn out. On the other hand, it could be decent...

Oh well, I guess we'll see.

Mike Tyson's Punch Out!! Review.

A few weeks ago I was searching through $1 NES sports games at the Flea Market. The basics were there, Double Dribble, Ice Hockey, Baseball, you know, games that aren't worth anything. I was just about to leave when at the very back a saw a copy of Mike Tyson's Punch Out!! in pristine condition. I'd never played it, but I'd heard about it and know that it was worth more than $1 so I bought it and I am very pleased I did. It's fair to say this is one of my favorite NES games.

You play as Little Mac. A tiny little boxer who works his way through ten boxers to fight Mike Tyson. That's about it. Just beat up Mike Tyson.

The Gameplay is very precise and reflex based. You need to dodge, punch, and block at the perfect time depending on which opponent you're facing. Each boxer has a weakness, the trick it to figure out what it is and exploit it. After a certain amount of punches they get knocked out moving you to the next opponent.

The Boxers you face are all pretty clever and you can see that the designers had a lot on fun thinking up the names. Soda Popinski, King Hippo, Super Macho Man, and more. The graphics are great for the time and the controls are good too. Everything just seems to click with this game. Every aspect compliments the next in a mix of action, strategy, and timing unlike anything I've ever played. I would like a few more than just eleven opponents though.

So in conclusion it's a great game. Now excuse me while I get a copy of Super Punch Out!!

Top 5 hopes for the 3DS

Before you read this be sure to enter my contest here!

We know quite a few things about the 3DS. There are even more things that we don't know. Here are five things I'm hoping that the 3DS is going to be equipped with.

5. 3G

3G could be awesome... I think it's pretty easy to tell why.

4. No headaches.

For me it's not that big of a deal if you get a headache after an hour of playing or something seeing as you can just turn the 3D effect off for a little while, but if you got a headache after a half hour it could get pretty annoying. People at E3 did try it for about ten minutes though so at least we know that you can play headache free that long.

3. Great graphics.

Well so far they've looked pretty awesome. Here's a comparison and my oh my... Now keep in mind that the PS3/xbox 360 screen is a lot bigger than the 3DS so you can't really draw a fair conclusion. Still, I hope they end up looking this good in real life.

got this from 3DS blog by the way.
2. Virtual console.

The ability to download Gameboy games? Gameboy Color perhaps? Maybe even... Dare I say... Virtual boy?

1. A release date before christmas.

Everyone cross you're fingers!

So there's my list. Hope you enjoyed it!

Super Mario 64 Review

Before you read this be sure to check out my contest!

Ah the transition to 3D... Some game series' handled it very well, (Legend of Zelda, Final Fantasy) others didn't make the leap quite so gracefully (Castlevania, Sonic). Today I'm going to talk about one of the best 2D to 3D transitions known simply as Super Mario 64.

The plot of Super Mario 64 is standard. Princess gets kidnapped, Mario must save her by going from level to level solving puzzles, killing bad guys and jumping over obstacles to find stars. Unoriginal, but it gets the job done. Where it really shines is in the gameplay.

I find the way they turned 2D plat-forming into 3D plat-forming absolutely brilliant. They managed to keep the classic Mario feel, but at the same time changing a lot. The bright, happy, cartoonish world feels exactly the way it should, and even though the primitive, polygonal graphics are technically outdated it adds a charm completely unique to the N64.

Of course it's not all good. The camera angles can be incredibly frustrating. You can tweak it with the yellow buttons on the top right side of the controller but sometimes that just doesn't cut it. Leaving you completely blind for a few seconds, longing for the days of simple right to left side-scrolling. But that doesn't last long and soon you're back in the action, able to see what's going on and enjoying it as much, if not more, than the 2D games.

So in conclusion this game is awesome. Play it... NOW!

Top 5 best Playstation games

QUICK!!!! Before you read this enter my contest for 4 free SNES games!!! link here.

I don't write about Playstation enough. I do really like the Playstation 1, 2, and 3. Just not as much as Nintendo. Anyway, today I'm going to talk about the best Playstation games. Now before I start, I just want to say that I haven't played as much Playstation as Nintendo, so if there is a game you think I'm stupid for leaving out, I just haven't played it yet. So. Without further ado. Here are the top 5 best Playstation games.

5. Crash Bandicoot.

This game really helped the Playstation get on it's feet. Great graphics for the time, solid gameplay, interesting level design, this game was one of the first 3D platformers and they definitely pulled it off.

4. Driver.

I doubt this game has appeared on many top five lists but I like this game a lot. It's fun, challenging, and how can a game with a felony bar not be awesome.

3. CastleVania: Symphony of the Night.

This game was made when 2D sidescrollers were coming to an end. So naturally, they had nearly perfected the genre. That perfection was simply known as CastleVania: Symphony of the Night.

2. Tomb Raider.

The graphics for this game were amazing. Great plot and a lot of fun. I would definitely recommend checking out Tomb Raider.

1. Final Fantasy 7.

Okay, there's really nothing I can say about this game that hasn't already been said. It's a great game that revolutionized RPGs.

Megaman 2 Review

QUICK!!!! Before you read this enter my contest for 4 free SNES games!!! link here.

This is an excellent game. No question one of the best games in the NES library. Definitely better than the first. Why? Well, here's why.

Even though this game isn't very plot-heavy, I love the concept. Good guy makes one good robot, bad guy makes eight bad robots. Good guy robot must beat all eight bad guy robots to get to the many levels inside the bad guys laboratory.

The controls are great too. Nice and responsive. Easy to control, the graphics are pretty good for the NES, and the soundtrack is AWESOME! Seriously. Chalk it up as one of the best NES game soundtracks. So good.

This game is very difficult. Expect a lot of frustration. There's a difference between good frustration and bad frustration though. Megaman is good frustration because you can tell that it was purposefully made to frustrate you. Bad frustration is a game with bad controls or tons of glitches so instead of just needing skill, you need to pray that the game won't glitch up and kill you.

Now I know I should say some stuff that I didn't like about this game but the truth is that I really can't think of anything I don't like about it. It's a perfect game, in my opinion.

More 3DS

If people read my blog I'm sure that they would get very annoyed by all of my 3DS stuff by now, but having no readers definitely has its perks. But have no fear, imaginary readers, for this post will be short. I just want say three quick things, followed by a bunch of awesome 3DS pictures.

1. Graphics: possibly better than the Wii, maybe even close to PS3 or Xbox 360.

2. Games: Ocarina of time remake?! Mario Kart 3D?! Paper Mario?!

3. 3D movies?!

In conclusion. You know those crazy people that wait in line for ten hours to be the first to buy something? Well, let's just say I've started saving.

The Playstation Move

I know I don't talk about Sony very much but today I wanted to talk about the move.

Ever since I saw about the move I was pretty opposed to it. I mean... It blatently ripped off the wii controller, but once you get past that it's basically just a wii remote that works better, and has better graphics. The only way the wii can compete is their awesome exclusive titles and the cheaper price. I think that the Move could really take a chunk out of Nintendo's Wii sales, but I'm not too worried. I'm pretty sure that the 3DS is going to be enough to keep Nintendo on top. Plus, the Wii really isn't one of Nintendo's best systems in my opinion. The motion controls are innovative but besides that it was basically just a Gamecube with Wi-Fi.

The sub-par graphics, the bright, happy marketing and the fact that they completely ignored online multiplayer on most of their games has turned off a lot of hardcore gamers, and for good reason. It really isn't a hardcore system. I would bet money that you've heard someone say "The graphics are pretty good... for the Wii." before.

Now don't get me wrong. It's is a great console. I'm just saying that I understand why some people don't like it.

Anyway, this post has turned into more abut the Wii than anything, but that's all I feel like writing.

Thanks for reading! :D
